There are millions of unique web sites on the Internet today, but only a handful are created in such a way that makes them appealing for the eye as well as the watch. Many sites around have really cool graphics, motion or sound, but all of these items add time to the loading of the page to your screen. Research shows that if a page doesn't load within 30 seconds, most people go to a new page. When designing a web site, Navigation and Consistency are key to a quality site! A visitor to your site wants to know where they are and how they got there. If they click three levels into your site, and there is no link to take them anywhere, users get frustrated and will end up leaving the site. The web site should show some consistency from one page to another. This isn't saying that all pages must look EXACTLY the same, but navigation buttons for instance should be in the same area on all pages to eliminate a visitor from having to search all over a page. If your web site has different product areas, or different themes, then you might want to have a different look or appearance signifying the different areas. However, there should still be some consistency with how the pages link and interact with one another. The Marshall Group creates web sites that are attractive to the eye, but also makes sure any graphics, sounds, etc. are optimized for fast loading. Our web sites are designed with ease of navigation to any layer within the site, and pages are designed with an overall consistency that is carried throughout the entire site.
